Ich habe lange darauf gewartet, und nun geht es endlich weiter mit Dan und Sams Time Jumps 🙂
Ich verfolge die Abenteuer ja schon gebannt seit Band 1, und freue mich alljährlich auf die Fortsetzungen.
Zum Inhalt: Hier gibt es eigentlich zwei Plots, die ziemlich clever miteinander verwoben sind. Der große Plot, der alle Bücher der Serie miteinander verbindet, ist die geheime Gesellschaft der „Time Jumper“, deren Mitglieder mit Geräten ausgestattet sind, die es ihnen erlauben, durch die Zeit zu reisen. Aber nicht einfach so aus Spaß am Abenteuer, sondern es ist vielmehr umgekehrt: wann immer es im Strom der Zeit einen „Glitch“, eine Art unerwünschten Ausrutscher gibt, rufen die Geräte die Time Jumper und diese Hüpfen genau dorthin und müssen die Geschichte wieder richten, so dass alles wieder in seinen geordneten Bahnen verläuft. Die Zeitreisenden wissen also nie vorher, wo sie landen werden, und trainieren daher ihr Leben lang alle Eventualitäten…. Ja, und einer der Jumper, der im Klappentext erwähnte Victor Stahl, hat seine Chancen auf die Weltherrschaft erkannt und ist die dunkle Macht, die bekämpft werden muss. Der Kampf gegen Victor zieht sich durch alle Bücher hindurch, und in jedem Buch deckt sich der perfide Plan des Bösen immer ein paar Schritte weiter auf….
Der zweite Plot ist natürlich immer das jeweilige aktuelle Zeitreiseabenteuer von Dan und Sam, den beiden mehr oder weniger unfreiwilligen Jumpern. Dieses Mal landen sie im alten Griechenland im Jahre 480v. Chr., und die Schlacht von Thermopylae steht unmittelbar bevor. Falls das jemanden nichts sagt: das war die legendäre Schlacht von Spartas „300“, den spartanischen Superhelden, die der persischen Übermacht trotzten…. Sam kannte sie auch nicht, und Dan, der durchaus von seinem Vater sehr viele Geschichtslektionen erteilt bekommen hatte, erinnert sich auch hauptsächlich an den gleichnamigen epischen Hollywoodfilm, der ihm diverse Fanboy-Momente bescherte…..es gilt nun herauszufinden, welcher „Glitch“ nun zu reparieren ist, und schon bald findet sich Dan mitten im zentralen Kriegsgeschehen wieder….und das ist „in echt“ bei weitem eine andere Hausnummer als im Kinosessel….
Und natürlich haben wir eine zarte Romance dabei – wir erinnern uns, Samantha und Daniel sind sich in den letzten Bänden näher gekommen, aber Dan hat mittlerweile zuhause eine feste Freundin, Jenna, und muss sich entscheiden, was er eigentlich möchte.
Also, kommen wir zu meinem Leseerlebnis: es war mal wieder extrem cool. Superspannend, super viel Action, viel Emotion, mitreißend geschrieben. Dafür, dass es sich hier eigentlich um ein Jugendbuch handelt (Sam, Jenna und Dan sind 17 Jahre alt), bin ich total begeistert. Der Autor holt einen von Seite 1 an ab, und man ist im Flow.
Und man merkt auch, dass der Autor Historiker ist, die Bücher sind allesamt historisch sehr genau. Sehr akkurat. Hier stimmt echt alles, und das finde ich klasse. Ich kaufe ihm komplett alles ab, echt witzig eigentlich.
Die Charaktere entwickeln sich von Band zu Band weiter, und ich denke, man kann durchaus dieses Buch auch alleinstehend lesen – es werden einem genug Hintergrundinfos zu allem gegeben – aber natürlich ist es spannender, von Beginn an einzusteigen. Von daher: Lest alle 4 Bücher! Meine Leseempfehlung!

I’ve been waiting a long time for this, and now Dan and Sam’s Time Jumps are finally continuing 🙂
I’ve been following their adventures since book 1 and am looking forward to the sequels every year.
About the plot: There are actually two plots here that are quite cleverly interwoven. The main plot that connects all the books in the series is the secret society of „Time Jumpers,“ whose members are equipped with devices that allow them to travel through time. But not just for the fun of it; rather, it’s the other way around: whenever there’s a „glitch“—some kind of unwanted slip-up—in the flow of time, the devices call the Time Jumpers, and they hop right there and have to set history straight so that everything runs smoothly again. The time travelers never know in advance where they’ll end up, and therefore spend their lives training for all eventualities…. Yes, and one of the jumpers, Victor Stahl, mentioned in the blurb, has recognized his chances for world domination and is the dark force that must be fought. The fight against Victor runs through all the books, and in each book, the evil one’s perfidious plan is revealed a few steps further…
The second plot, of course, is always the current time travel adventure of Dan and Sam, the two more or less involuntary jumpers. This time, they land in ancient Greece in the year 480 BC, and the Battle of Thermopylae is imminent. In case that doesn’t mean anything to anyone: that was the legendary battle of Sparta’s „300,“ the Spartan superheroes who defied the Persian superpower…. Sam didn’t know it either, and Dan, who certainly had received plenty of history lessons from his father, also mainly remembers the epic Hollywood film of the same name, which gave him various fanboy moments…..now it’s time to figure out which „glitch“ needs to be fixed, and soon Dan finds himself in the middle of the central battle….and that’s a far different story „in real life“ than in the cinema seat….
And of course, we have a tender romance in there – we remember, Samantha and Daniel have grown closer in the last few books, but Dan now has a steady girlfriend at home, Jenna, and has to decide what he actually wants.
So, let’s get to my reading experience: it was once again extremely cool. Super exciting, tons of action, lots of emotion, grippingly written. Considering that this is actually a young adult book (Sam, Jenna, and Dan are 17 years old), I’m absolutely thrilled. The author grabs you from page one, and you’re in the flow.
And you can also tell that the author is a historian; the books are all historically very accurate. Very precise. Everything here is absolutely spot on, and I think that’s great. I completely buy into everything he says; it’s really funny, actually.
The characters develop further from book to book, and I think you can definitely read this book on its own—you’re given enough background information on everything—but of course, it’s more exciting to jump in from the beginning. So, read all four books! I very much recommend reading them!
